It is possible to leverage the provided Jalopy setup wizard to install the plug-in as described in the How do I install Jalopy into the Eclipse dropins folder?-How-To. But this approach is not recommended as it involves the dropins folder, which should be avoided when possible. Instead, you should create an update site with the setup wizard and install the plug-in using the provisioning system from within MyEclipse.
In order to install the plug-in via an update site, follow the steps as described below:
Use the setup wizard to create an update site. This is described in detail in the How do I create an Eclipse update site?-How-To
In MyEclipse, open the Configuration Center via the title bar item Help → MyEclipse Configuration Center
Switch to the Software tab:
We want to install some custom software. Press the add site link behind the Plug-in search box in the Browse Software section
A dialog appears that lets you add a new installation source MyEclipse uses for plug-in management:
First enter a name, e.g. Jalopy 1.9.4, than press the Add from Local Folder link to select the update site
A file chooser appears that lets you select the update site folder that should be used. Please locate the folder
update-site-3.5
that has been created in step 1. This folder is located below the target directory you’ve specified with the setup wizard.Press the OK button once done
The chosen path will now be displayed in the Add Site dialog:
Again, confirm the dialog with OK
Jalopy now appears as a new update site below Personal Sites:
Select the Jalopy Source Code Formatter item and press the little green + button above the list to have it added to your profile
MyEclipse will check the update site and list Jalopy as an available update
Press the Apply 1 change button to start the actual installation
MyEclipse will verify the selected options and display the Jalopy license terms for your consideration:
You must accept the license before you can proceed. Press the Next button when you’re ready
The overview screen will appear:
Please review the information and press the Update button to finally start the installation process
When the installation is done, the final confirmation dialog appears:
Press Restart Now button to restart MyEclipse
